Analysis Of John Nash s Class We Watched A Beautiful...
In class we watched ââ¬Å"A Beautiful Mindâ⬠this movies has to due with a man named John Nash (Russell Crowe) who a genius mathematician who eventually finds himself struggling with Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a brain disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and disordered thinking and behavior. John Nash the main character had severe hallucinations, in particular with three main people. Although the new Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) no longer uses types of schizophrenia, Nash is diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia, which is the belief of being persecuted, in this case the belief of persecution is not reality based. The reason I believe this is because of the fact that hid main problem is that he is envisioning these three people following him and harassing him when in reality there is never someone actually there. Schizophrenia has three categories for symptoms: positive, negative and cognitive symptoms. Positive symptoms is behavior not generally seen in healthy people, or example hallucinations, delusions, thought disorders, and movement disorder. Negative symptoms is accosted with the disruption normal behaviors and emotions, these symptoms include ââ¬Å"flat affectâ⬠which is basically the lack of emotion, reduced feeling of pleasure in everyday life, difficulty beginning and sustaining activities and reduced speaking.
